They tell me I should've grown out of Close to the Edge and it's instrumental masturbation, but I haven't. I'm still aweshocked every time I hear it.

    Score: 10.0 (Classic!)

H'okay. It's currently 2 in the morning. It was about 1 when I had just cleared that boatload of homework that kept me up initially. I was tired as hell. I was going to put on something like Rock Bottom or Velocity : Design : Comfort, my typical sleeping records. But something in me told me to finally confront my LOOOOOONG awaited spin of Close to the Edge. I don't know what I was thinking. I thought I was going to fall asleep to it or something. But, by the time that opening crescendo collapsed, I was more awake than I had ever been before. The next 40 minutes were complete ecstasy, filled with mesmerizingly complex instrumentation, powerful mood changes, charming 70s lyricism, etc, etc. I'm upset that I put this record off for so long, but I'm even more upset that my first spin was at 1 in the fucking morning on a school night. Shit man, tomorrow's going to be a trudge.

    Score: 9.0 (Fantastic!)

ded man Update: I fell asleep in three classes. Luckily one of them was basically one where you just do what you want so I was able to fall asleep listening to Close to the Edge.
