My favourite part about making my Final Fantasy fanfic/encyclopedia is taking optional bosses and weaving them into my narrative :)

Editing … I have to find it hilarious that they added a superboss to FF1. What's wrong with just having a final boss and an ending. I guess that wasn't complicated enough.

Editing … With every port/remake, they probably felt like they needed to add something to make it worthwhile for the people who have played it before.

Editing … I for one, enjoy the additions, as I replay it almost every year.

Editing … a few days ago I had ff1 and 2 in my folder of isos I plan to add to my psp, but then I watched some gameplay and came to my senses. It's not just the random battles, but the music, it's just weird that because of random battles the music changes back and forth constantly between those two tunes, and it's quite jarring. That's why in my RPG I like the music to mesh together and I keep the battle theme downbeat. They could learn a thing or two from me.

Editing … I totally get that, but at the end of the day, I don't expect them to record new music for a 30 year old game. I love the game regardless, and on long grining sessions, I usually listen to podcasts or music anyway. It's good to multi-task when you have so many interests.

Editing … "I don't expect them to record new music for a 30 year old game." but I thought that's what they did, albeit while using the same melodies from the NES version.

Editing … It was remixed back when it was remade for the PS1, but that was done purely to make use of the Playstation soundchip. That was also the beginning of the game being remade. Until that point, it had only ever been on NES and Wonderswan.

Editing … I wasn't into the first two Final Fantasy games. If I beat them, it'll just be a completionist thing, to say I've beaten all of the first ten before the series went nuts, but then I'd have to beat VI as well, and that's three lengthy games I don't like, so it's very unlikely I'll do it. I liked what I played of I more than II or VI though, so maybe that's worth another shot.
