Very good game.

Castle of Illusion (remake) was obviously a passion project for the devs, who not only loved the original classic, but also understood what made it special. That is why, they not only retained the spirit of the original, but at the same time improved upon it greatly in ways that make sense and feel like a natural extension of the original.
Pros: A shining example of a remake-done-right, absolutely delightful visuals, charming Disneyesque score, excellent boss fights, great level design, variety and creativity in scenery and gameplay, lovely writting and voice acting, overall good platforming, neat little touches
Cons: Occasionally it's difficult to judge a distance and the platforms are frequently narrow so it's easy to miss them and fall, the zoomed-in camera is problematic at times, feels rushed towards the end, slightly disappointing cutscenes, framerate dips

Castle of Illusion is a solid platformer that is worth playing. It certainly targets a younger or newer gaming audience...and for that audience it excels as being one of the best games on the system. However, for the broader market the ease of the game and blatant catering towards the younger audience may alienate some...leaving the game to still be a worthwhile adventure, but not the epic ride the target audience experiences.

This is a pretty good platformer for the time which really captures that classic Disney vibe. You can see hints of what's to come in the level design of the MD game; several ideas can be found in the first Sonic game as well. The problem I have with the MD game is that it doesn't really play to the console's strengths - it's a very slow paced game and there's never a whole lot going on on-screen. I actually prefer the SMS version, which has different mechanics, more secrets to find and an overall faster pace.

A true classic. It's magical, the wonderful Disney universe in a game. Even considering the technical issues this game managed to do its job.
