    Saved!
I just want to rant about what happened to this novel, and why sometimes what people intend to be a good thing doesn't always turn out that way for others. Baccano is a novel series that has been fan-translated for just under 10 years, with translations of extremely high quality and very few spelling/grammatical errors. The tone of the novels were spot on, with the translators being obvious die-hard fans of the series. Recently Yen press decided after 21 volumes that they would be releasing the series in English, at the rate of about 3 volumes per year. Because of the new threat of a DMCA, the fans translating the series have essentially gone into hiding, taking the entire catalogue of English volumes down and completely ridding this passion project from their lives. I find this to be fucking ridiculous. Yen press seem to believe this will increase the fanbase of the series but it will in fact do the opposite. There was an increasing interest in the series as the translations came out, people were stoked for every chapter of this incredible story which came out at a fairly good rate. Yen press have now essentially created a 7 year hiatus for the next installment of the story. 7 fucking years. They may think this will increase the number of people interested in the series, but it will in fact do the opposite. Interests come and go for a large number of people, and with a fanbase already smaller than many I see no good in this whatsoever. Theres nothing more I have to say other than fuck you Yen press. Fuck you.
