I thought it was funny how when Screen Junkies ranked all the MCU films and discussed Endgame the consensus was "Sure, the big set piece battle in the third act was amazing, but with the 3 hour run-time it was such a slog getting there." WHAT!? All the self-indulgent call-backs in the second act were the highlight of the movie, and the drama for me hit a lot harder in the first few scenes where everyone is at their lowest. Act 3 was just another army of action figures brawling with a different army of action figures.

Editing … Oh, and this conclusion didn't redeem Infinity War at all. All of that movie's issues that I thought might be addressed or subverted were hardly given a thought. I might even say it compounded them.

Editing … yeah, the entire finale sequence was what dragged this one down for me. The character-driven scenes were great, the fighting was just basic superhero action.

Editing … Something I really appreciated about Patrick H Willems' recent critiques of the MCU was how he praised Whedon's movies for how they manage to adapt comic-book splash panels to the big screen. Then he compares it to the opening of the airport sequence in Civil War where the Russos had a very similar opportunity, and it's simply not the same. In Endgame you have the mother of all opportunities with ALL the characters and ALL the factions charging into battle, and they just kinda chaotically mash into each other like a Total War battle.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and thought it was pretty damn good for a conclusion of a storyline 11 years in the making. The couple days leading up to seeing it I saw the prior three Avengers movies, CA: Civil War, Ragnarok, Dr.Strange, Iron Man, and Iron Man 2. All of which were first time viewings. I had already seen the Guardians, Captain Americas, Antman & Wasp, Cap Marvel, and Spiderman prior. Never seen Hulk, Iron Man 3, Thor 1 & 2, Antman or Black Panther. I like how the Marvel movies regularly have the characters state how ridiculous the scenarios they are in in the films themselves. They never seem to take themselves seriously and I feel that's the way to go.

It had some real highs and it had some real lows. Overall I had fun, but I found most of the whole ending sequence to be pretty uninteresting. That's except for [1], and oh god [2]. Had some better emotional scenes than previous movies, and had the sense not to turn those moments into gags.
Spoiler[1] Seeing Steve Rogers get together with Peggy Carter, more for her sake than for his :) [2] I coulda CRIED when Quill met the other Gamora CUZ OH NO SHE'S NOT GONNA RECOGNIZE HIM

Editing … Yeah, it's a very, very flawed movie, but overall I enjoyed it. It's far from the heights of Infinity War or Ragnarok for me, but it has some very good moments.

Editing … What are your highs? I felt completely satisfied after I finished watching Infinity War. And that's a feeling I haven't felt from a movie in a long, long time.

Editing … Guardians of the Galaxies, Iron Man 1 & 3, Ragnarok, Strange, and it's been too long since I saw Winter Soldier and Civil War but I remember liking them, especially Winter Soldier. I just can't remember why. And then lotsa TV seasons, particular Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and the Netflix shows :)

Editing … Winter Soldier is top tier. Guardians of the Galaxies have fallen dramatically in my list with repeated viewing. I like Iron Man 1 but it's pretty average. Iron Man 3 is the best of the three in my mind.

Editing … My friend whispered at me in the theater to ask, and me, I had his answer--mostly because before Infinity War started shooting, it was announced he'd appear in either Infinity War Part I or Part II (so like, *really* old news). Since I'm always informed on movie stuff and Iron Man 3's so up there for me, yeah yeah, I remembered.
