Asteroids awarded an extra ship for every 10,000 points, with a limit of 99 ships. Top-level players would max out their ships, then use the time that it would take thirty or forty ships to be destroyed in order to take bathroom and meal breaks (or even short naps) during marathon sessions. - TV Tropes. Wow.

Proof that a game doesn't have to be that complex to be great.

Talk about an oldie-but-a-goodie. Playing on an arcade cabinet, the sleek vector lines are so simplistic they actually hold up well for an ancient game. The premise is simple enough but the controls are challenging in a good sort of way and the physics of the asteroids breaking up and objects momentum holds up amazingly well. One of the best "easy to grasp, hard to master" games in the arcade mold.
