Haha, you can unlock Samus' Varia Suit pants in New Leaf ^^ I bet this isnt't the only easter egg in an Animal Crossing game that references other Nintendo franchises, right? It'd be awesome to find an in-game Yoshi or shy guy or Bowser mask

Editing … You can unlock Samus's entire Varia Suit and helmet, as well as other Nintendo-themed clothes (Pikmin hats, Link costume, Fi mask, etc.) and furniture (1-Up mushroom, question block, a kart from Mario Kart, an arwing, etc. etc.). Almost all of them are fortune cookie items. There's also a game shelf furniture item that has a little Gamecube on it.

Editing … Right, so far I've unlocked every item you mentioned except the arwing, gamecube and one part of samus' suit, and on top of that I've collected a bunch of other neat items like the virtual boy, Yoshi egg, link's master sword, super Mario bro's goal post, Wario and mario's mustaches, mario's hat, the pikmin spaceship etc). Which game is the fi mask from (I got two of them)? Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of all fortune cookie prizes?

Every day is the fucking same.

You wake up, go to the beach and collect some shells, which you then sell in a nearby pawn shop. Then you go fishing. Maybe pick some cherries if you're in the mood. Afterwards you collect some insects. You visist the museum and donate the fish and insects you caught earlier that day. You dig a few holes and hit every rock in town with your shovel in the hopes of finding a treasure. And that's pretty much it. Rinse and repeat. #Skinner Box

tl;dr Animal Crossing's gameplay loop does not offer enough variety

Editing … I never got the appeal of this game, at least the NDS version. The world was pretty small and there didn't seem to be much variety in activity. Is it just because the animals were cute?

Boy am I glad I'm back into playing this game (so relaxing!) or I'd be on the verge of a nervous breakdown right now :)

Editing … MGS3 is kind of my chill game, I guess it's because of the forest and birds etc. Although, giant bisexual men who shoot lightning and women who judo-throw you off bridges disrupt that every 20 minutes.

Editing … I've had panic attacks and anxiety in the past, probably not be the same as what you are experiencing but letting people know (doctors, family) and just accepting it takes time to pass helped me. Videogames, walking, music, reading etc. help too. If you like walking or riding I really recommend listening to the SBFcast http://superbestfriendsplay.com/series/friendcast/ apart from episode 101 (Iwata)

I... MIGHT have just downloaded the digital version (already owned a cart) so I didn't have to reset my old town...? I haven't even opened that file in over a year, but I just don't have the heart to reset it. Damn it, Nintendo. You make me a bad person.

Editing … But what do you actually DO in this game? What's the gameplay loop like in New Leaf? I played the Animal Crossing game on DS for 15 hours and was bored to tears. All you do is walk around, doing nothing. Sometimes you catch an animal or whatever. Then for the rest of the day more nothingness. Chem, I'm curious - what do you find so engrossing about this franchise?

Editing … Honestly, when I think about it I don't know why I love this game (played the DS entry only), as when you put all the things you do on paper it seems like a stupid concept and one that should be boring, but like you, I invested quite a lot of hours into the game (although I played it each/every other day for about an hour or so) and I look back to it with extreme fondness. If I had my stylus still with me and my touchscreen wasn't so shit, I'd probably still be charging my DS from time to time, just to play that game.

Editing … Speaking as someone who was hooked on ACNL for about... 4 months straight, the hook is generally in getting your town and your house to look exactly how you want it to look. And there are a lot of things you can do to customize--plant flowers and breed rare hybrids, unlock Public Works Projects like benches, sculpture art, and bonfires, etc., planting trees, buying new clothes and home decorations (of which there are a TON), changing the exterior of your house, and even trying to track down the villager characters you want. Plus there's the whole aspect of trying to collect all of the fish, fossils, and bugs for the museum. And in ACNL you can take screen shots and easily post them online! Villager dialogue can also be really funny.
