I still can't play any longer than about 2 minutes or so, I just can't do a full song and it frustrates the fuck out of me. The pain in my arm from my injury last year just builds and builds until I can't continue. It's like arm pump, have you guys ever ridden a motocross bike? I used to get arm pump a lot doing that, it feels exactly the same. Once I rest for a minute I feel OK again. I'm actually not too bad playing using barre chords because my hand sort of keeps the same shape and just moves up and down the fretboard, but that limits me to certain songs, songs like this I can do no problem: https://youtu.be/h9JZWhjQDvc your fingers hardly move at all. If I learned actual music theory I might be able to find a way to play more songs using barre chords but that's a lot of work.

I'm wondering if maybe I should try another instrument instead of persisting. Maybe a keyboard? I wonder if I have enough flexibilty though in my left wrist, I am quite limited compared to normal people, it's about half of my other wrist. Nothing really excites me like guitars though. I have a harmonica and it's fairly easy to grab the basics but I don't like it like I do a guitar. Maybe I could try those electronic drum thingys, they might be fun. Anything like a trumpet or saxophone I will never be able to do, I can't move my fingers anymore, so my dream of being the saxophone guy from The Lost Boys is over before it begins lol.

I wonder if I could play bass guitar? It looks a lot easier on the left hand than a normal guitar, there's not so many chords and shapes for my hand to constantly change to....

I just don't know. But I really enjoy playing music and I aint ready to stop yet. And I can't sing to save my life :D

Editing … I once assembled a cabinet with a screw/bolt that fell inside one of the holes. (It actually came that way.) To get it out I used a screwdriver with a magnetic tip and tilted the cabinet base back and forth until the piece rolled into the screwdriver.

I didn't give in, I've been practicing. I can play Johnny B. Goode with that 12 bar blues I learned a few days ago. And I found a capo so it's even in the right key too. I still suck massive donkey balls and it hurts but I guess it's practice for when I buy some bass.

Editing … Dude, try to play just off your chest every once in a while. Just how you feel; expressively. Start with a 3- or 4-note melody. Repeat, repeat, vary. Let it evolve from there. Keep alternating between making active decisions and passively letting things happen. In case of mistakes, remember Bob Ross: there are no mistakes but only happy little accidents. Even mistakes can sound kinda cool if you repeat, repeat, vary them. I play the piano like this almost every night before I go to bed. Playing like that is the greatest thing in life I have ever learned.

I've been trying and trying but I can't play for longer than a minute or two without my injury giving me some real pain. It feels like arm pump, it builds and builds until I just have to stop. I can't get my hand fully parallel to the guitar neck I'm having to play at an angle.

Maybe I can find something else, I do have a harmonica and I did pretty good with that in the first few weeks I was knocking out tunes in no time but forgot about it. Maybe bass guitar? I always wanted a bass guitar. I can't play drums I tried, I can't seperate my hands and feet.

I wonder if I can hold the guitar differently?! Maybe stick the neck out in front of me? I don't know if I could get enough pressure to play a chord... I tried I can't even see what I'm doing.

I just googled "play guitar after bicep tendon rupture" and it seems I'm not the only one. I need to go read through all 789354 pages and see if somebody found a solution.

I finally have enough movement in my wrist to do some chords! Played Wonderwall(very badly) to Isabella earlier and she loves it. I've got her a ukelele to strum on see if she gets serious enough to take it up as a hobby.

I haven't played mine for years now. It's time to sell it, let somebody else have some fun like I did.

My favourite instrument because I can play a full song by myself. I really want to play more but I don't have the time.
