"Do I Wanna Know", "R U Mine?" and specially "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" are amazing tracks. The last one has a incredibly addicting bass line that made me fall in love with it. The rest of the tracks range from good to forgettable, most of them falling on the forgettable spectrum, really (at least upon the first couple listens). "Snap Out of It" and "Knee Socks" are some of the other good tracks in the album.
Overall, it's a pretty decent album, the first I heard from Arctic Monkeys and I wasn't disappointed. Though I probably won't re-listen to any song that isn't these five, or at least won't feel like putting the album playing for any other song.

Before listening to "AM", I had only listened to "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not", the Arctic Monkey's debut album which was an incredible modernization of 80s punk. Now, based off that, this is an incredible change in pace for the band. It's much more something you'd expect from a modern alternative band, but it's one of the best displays of modern alternative rock, one that can almost rival Vampire Weekend. Although there's not much originality displayed here, the bass-drenched head bobbing riffs are some that should be experienced by anyone who's a fan of the genre. It's a great throwback to the early years of the 2000s with bands like The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, and 2004 Green Day, when modern alternative was just getting started. Songs like "Do I Wanna Know" and "R U Mine" are enough to make this album a must hear.
