Fuck me sideways with a chainsaw, Pokemon The First Movie is above A Bugs Life.

Editing … A Bug's Life is massively overrated. Not even a good movie tbh. Antz is where it's at.

Editing … Massively overrated? I rarely see people say nice things about it. I really like it. I only watched the first few minutes of Antz. I couldn't handle hearing Woody Allen cause I've seen too many people make fun of that voice.

I had no idea I'd seen so few movies from this year. This must be fixed.

Can I just mention that I utterly LOVE these movie-by-year lists?

I'm both highly amused and disturbed that a movie about Naziism is #1 so far...

I could have done a Top 40 for this list. 1998 was a great year for movies!

Also, everybody should take note that the Count of Monte Cristo from this list is the French miniseries, not the 2002 Jim Caviezel movie.

Editing … Pretty average year for movies to me so far, no one will appear in the decade nor the alltime list.

Editing … Funny, I thought it was a pretty weak year. Saving Private Ryan's my #1 and even that doesn't make my all time top 50. In all fairness though, looking at my list you can tell I was a kid in 1998 :P

Editing … If you haven't seen them, The Big Lebowski, American History X, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Rushmore, Dark City, Run Lola Run, The Thin Red Line, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Happiness are all terrific films. There is also a lot to like in terms of lighter fare from 1998: The Faculty, The Wedding Singer, Blade, There's Something About Mary, etc.

Editing … I've seen them all besides The Faculty out of the lighter fare you mentioned but out of the ones you call terrific I've only seen The Big Lebowski. Can't say I liked that one though.

Editing … If you're not a fan of ensemble casts, complex scripts, clever dialogue, inspired setpieces, tight direction, or great soundtracks (i.e. Coen brothers' movies), I can see how you wouldn't like The Big Lebowski. What exactly didn't you like about it?
