Favorite Games of 1992

Apart from seeing releases of the Super NES and Sega MegaCD in further regions, as well as the infamous CDi, this year saw many new game concepts come to light, all contributing to the industry - for better or worse. Such as: characters that were digitalized and not hand-drawn; remarkably fluid animation via rotoscopy; computer RPGs in three dimensions; adventure games pushing the boundaries of its genre; a more and more popular FPS genre on the PC; controversy due to themes of sex and violence; survival horror; a real-time-strategy template; and the best-selling French game of all time. New franchises and characters include a cute puffy ball, a go-kart sub-genre, a two-tailed fox and a smelly plumber.
