Favorite Game Gear Games

With an official lifetime of 1990 - 1997, the Game Gear is categorized in the 4th Generation of Gaming. Sega competed against Big N - who dominated the handheld market for years - with a portable device that was actually more powerful than the Game Boy, but even though it was the most successful competitor to date, Nintendo was the clear winner once again due to a longer battery life and better third-party support. The Game Gear was basically a portable version of the MasterSystem which allowed easy porting from that platform; yet, later on a direct converter made things even easier. Other accessories were: a TV Tuner, a car cigarette power plug and a battery pack for longer battery life, to name the highlights.

I'd like to start collecting game gear cartridges, unfortunately its library seems to be rather weak

Editing … There are a few gems, but I'd recommend emulation over the original hardware because of improved visibility, removed sprite flicker and fan translations (Shining Force: Final Conflict, Sylvan Tale, Lunar, Head Buster).

Editing … The screen on the GG is super prone to blurring, which makes playing fast-paced games a real chore to play - The Sonic games are near impossible for me to enjoy on the GG. A Majesco version of the GG was released late in it's life, and does include an improved screen that dramatically decreases the blurring, but I still found the Sonic games to be blah - IMO, Sonic often moves too fast for the hardware to keep up with him. Tails Adventure was actually my favorite Sonic-themed game on the system.
