Wow Mulan is high. I mean, I like it, but the only part people ever talk about is Make a Man Out of You. I certainly didn't think it would beat Finding Nemo, Frozen, and Lilo and Stitch on a list.

Editing … "Liking" a movie isn't necessarily good enough to make a top 10 when you're dealing with something as nostalgic and beloved as Disney and Pixar movies. And "~13-ish male gamers who post stuff online" (which is what the average favslist user likely would have been when the movie released) strikes me as a particularly tough crowd for Finding Nemo; the movie doesn't have enough of an edge to it. 2003 gamer zeitgeist: Halo and Grand Theft Auto are huge, everyone thinks Tidus and Raiden are kinda whiny and not nearly as cool as Cloud and Snake, people damn near lost their minds over Wind Waker's art style, Pokemon is seen as a fad on the decline, and there's a good chance even those outside of anime fandom are big fans of Dragon Ball Z/Gundam Wing/Cowboy Bebop or something.

Editing … "Pokemon is seen as a fad on the decline" I thought that's how it was during gens 3 and 4 and now it's come back. "doesn't have enough of an edge to it" I see Mulan as more light and fluffy than Finding Nemo, but I might be odd in that regard.

Editing … Finding Nemo is a talking animal movie about a father and his young son, neither of whom are "cool", trying to reunite. This was just not gonna cut it for most of the tween/teen edgey nerd set no matter how well it was handled. But comparing the two movies directly kind of misses the point. Mulan was 5 years older and hence a lot of the favslist community would have been 5 years younger when first exposed to it. Nostalgia matters! On Pokemon: More or less, yeah, but nobody knew that would happen in 2003, they just knew what things seemed like at the time.

Editing … That's pretty short. I still have a ton from when I was a kid and we'd rent movies and record them onto blank tapes using a two deck VCR.

Editing … It is indeed. I got rid of all my video tapes years ago. Disney films are always on tv or easily available to stream, so I don't really see the point in buying them. I rent a lot of movies too.

Editing … Stream still just makes me think pee. I'm not hip to you kids. I bet I've steamed something without knowing what I was doing. I like some Disney movies best on VHS though. Probably nostalgia. Or really just familiarity. Only I'm starting to think that familiarity and nostalgia mean the same thing and I've been using nostalgia to describe an emotion that does not have a word.

Editing … IMO there should be two lists, one for Walt Disney Animation Studios (only the 50 or so films considered part of the "canon") and Walt Disney Pictures (which includes Pixar and live-action films). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Walt_Disney_Animation_Studios_films https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Walt_Disney_Pictures_films
