Come on people, there are other movies than the american blockbusters!!! X-men, Harry Potter, Planet of the Apes, Captain America, Thor, all these movies in the top 10, are you serious ??

Editing … But this is what blockbusters are, movies with mass appeal. Sure, I might've preferred #Another Earth and #Sound of My Voice to almost anything on this list, but I don't expect to be able to start up a conversation about them with anyone I run into, whereas anyone can agree "yea, Fury Road was excellent!"

Editing … It doesn't help that some people only learn about the best foreign films when an American company decides to shoot a remake. Guess that one's a matter of marketing more than anything else.

Editing … One of the worst, IMO. There's very little here that I'd get really excited about recommending to others. Actually, out of every year that we can rank here, this is the one that had me making the most reservations about what I'd consider a personal favorite. Well, enough to fill out a top ten, anyway.

I can't believe I held off on seeing Source Code. I honestly assumed it was just an action movie, but it turned out to be an emotional thriller with an interesting story.

I'm so out of touch with the movie industry, I haven't even heard of over 90% of those movies you guys keep ranking in your "fav movies of 20xx" lists. Hm, that's probably how casual gamers must feel like when they're standing in a Gamestop.

I still need to see The Artist but even if that turns out to be great I still think this was a really weak year for films overall.

Editing … seems to get mixed reviews on amazon, but it has my favorite actor (Sean Penn) in it so I'm conflicted if I should watch this or not

Editing … People usually call these movies out as pretentious and stuff, but I thought the movie was masterful. It's an artsy movie, tries to tell it's story differently than most films, so if you like that sort of movies you'll love it.
